Don't stare at me, you've got the bug eyes...

Ok folks, seriously. I've had this conversation with a couple people, but WTH? Why do women love these sunglasses that are so huge and oddly shaped? The ones in the picture above aren't even the worst one's I've seen-- I've seen bigger. They seriously remind me a bit of Baxter Stockman a la Ninja Turtles, you know-- giant fly eyes.

One theory I heard was that they make the face look smaller by comparison. Eh? Whatever. I'm not even aware of the size or shape of your face, I'm just aware of what a FREAK you look like, heh. Seriously. Someone behind the fashion scene is just laughing at all the people they've fooled into thinking this trend is hot.

Attention women: you look ridiculous.

"But, with the blast shield down, I can't even see! How'm I supposed to fight?"

Once you've had sac....

You never go back. And I'm not talking about the Korean grape juice with sac, hehe. I'm actually referring to LoveSac.

Last night marked a momentous occassion-- I slept on my own bed for the first time in 4 years (finally cleared the bed off). Outside of the occassional hotel room or night at the Knight's, I've slept on a SuperSac every night for the last 4 years. Yeah I can be a little strange ;-)

I'm still a huge fan of LoveSac tho. Can't wait to get my own place and have more sacs for people to lounge on...

So yeah. That's my random tidbit for today.

cardboard

The people who designed the packaging for this cereal did well. I've begun to get into the habit of eating a more substantial breakfast and then eating a light lunch of cereal. So, getting tired of the puffed-wheat-smelling urine that I have to deal with a few different times a day as a result of my increased water intake and the eating of Super Golden Crisp at lunch (which is all I had at my desk until today), I decided to swing by the grocery store this morning and get a couple more boxes of cereal for variety's sake.

I thought perhaps I'd get something healthy to eat for lunch, and this box of Mighty Bites jumped out at me. I've bought Kashi stuff before and it hasn't been too bad. Heck, with this brightly colored box and the image of drizzling honey, I thought this might just be sweetened healthy cereal. It conjured up ideas of honey combs or something.

Not so. It tastes like cardboard. I only had one cup. (That's right-- we're out of bowls and I've been eating out of 8oz cups, and one cup was all I could make myself eat. No flavor to entice me whatsoever.)

World's End

I should really get back to posting short inane posts. They're not bad unless they're the only thing visible for weeks or months or years at a time.

I'm listening to the soundtrack to Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End and I must say I'm stoked to go see it tomorrow night at 8pm. If the trailer is any indication it looks like it'll be pretty awesome (since the second movie was pretty much a 2-3 hour set-up for this movie). Good stuff-- pirates, Hans Zimmer, etc...

mikie decides to drink water

The title of this post *almost* says enough. What it doesn't tell you is how frequently I've gone to the bathroom this afternoon. Yes, I've started trying to drink a gallon of water a day to help the ol metabolism out and get some more energy / lose more fat.

People love the gigantor watter bottle ;) It's like a miniature water color that I can just attach to my face and gulp down...

this is serious.

So I made a run for the border last night. I am happily chomping away at some Taco Bell and working at the office and look down to see something cute. My hot sauce wanted to marry me. Awww....

I don't even notice the little messages on these hot sauce packets half the time... so random.

Problems.

Lest my last entry be construed to mean that life isn't that great and that that is the reason why I look for little things to appreciate... I will say that such is not the case. Life is amazing. Today I share a nugget of wisdom. I've heard it said many ways:

"When a problem arises, go within. Get very quiet about it. Use it to learn something." --Dr. Wayne Dyer

The key to that idea is perspective.

"The problem is never the problem. Most often, the problem is that people don’t even know how to think about the problem."
--Dan Sullivan, Strategic Coach

Along those lines, recall a recent conference talk:

"Some grow bitter or anxious when it seems that not enough attention is being paid to them, when their lives would be so enriched if only they paid more attention to the needs of others.

"The answer lies in helping to solve the problems of those around us rather than worrying about our own, living to lift burdens even when we ourselves feel weighed down, putting our shoulder to the wheel instead of complaining that the wagons of life seem to be passing us by.

"Stretching our souls in service helps us to rise above our cares, concerns, and challenges. As we focus our energies on lifting the burdens of others, something miraculous happens. Our own burdens diminish. We become happier. There is more substance to our lives." --Elder David S. Baxter, October 2006 General Conference

I've found this to be true. As I shift my attention and energy to helping others, my problems or challenges seem to diminish or are overcome.
