May 2005 Archives

I can hardly contain myself.
I drove to work this morning with "Anakin Vs. Obi-Wan" from the Revenge of the Sith soundtrack on repeat. Holy crap it was pysching me out, I'm more excited than a little kid on Christmas Eve. When ever I hear a bombastic rendition of the Imperial March I just get the chills and grin from ear to ear.
This really is the last movie I can think of that I can really geek it up with. THE LAST STAR WARS MOVIE.
And you know, this movie can't help but be cool. I know a lot of people either thought the first 2 sucked or were at least pretty disappointing. I can see how. But theres at least one reason why this one will be better, why I'll get a charge out of it... it has my favorite character in it.
DARTH VADER. I grew up on Darth Vader. Darth Vader is one of the coolest bad guys to ever appear on screen. Everything-- the menacing mask/helmet and cloak, the *uuuuupperrrrrr* sound that he makes when he breaths, James Earl Jones' filtered voice, his great lines (I find your lack of faith disturbing...), the way he just destroys anyone who opposes him or even disappoints him so coolly... Darth Vader is simply cool, and this movie has Darth Vader. Who DOESN'T want to see him kick a bunch of wussy Jedi trash? That alone will be great, if not a little chilling to see the rise of the dark side.
When you see Obi-Wan and Anakin duke it out in Episode III, just remember their duel in Episode IV, haha.... a couple of old geezers trying to wave around their lightsabers (just imagine the old Obi-Wan doing a 360 with his lightsaber-- tell me Vader couldn't have brought him down during that half hour that it took Obi-Wan to go full circle, hehe...
No matter what, I'm nerdy enough that I'll love it the first time through no matter what, especially since I'm a big Darth Vader fan. I had a blast the first couple times through Episode II, and this should be even better.

I've had a few demands to update my blog about Hawaii, so I thought I'd post a preview and mention I had a blast. A legit blog entry (or entries) will be coming, I promise :) I took hundreds of photos, and though I'm sure they're not hundreds of keepers, there are quite a few that I'm pleased with... but oh my kingdom for a more capable camera in such a beautiful place, haha. In any case, there should be no shortage for documenting the trip.
I've got a friend who leaves next week to go to Hawaii-- apparently he goes there every year. When I mentioned that I needed to go again sometime, he said "ah, you've caught the Hawaii bug too, eh?" Haha... it's true. For some reason, once you go once, you really want to go back. Geez, Friday night after returning home I watched 50 First Dates, heh... it totally made me miss it and I'd only been home for a number of hours. It was kinda fun to see stuff in the movie I'd seen while I was there.
Anyhow, when I get more time to go through all my photos and sorta outline the whole trip, I'll update again... hopefully this weekend. Those who also went and took pictures, we need to pool those this weekend (Jeff, Kato, Jesse, Mel, Meliss, Shawn...), cause there's a bunch I don't have.
Until then, enjoy these images :)
Just a quick rant. Some spam-ish probably virus-like stuff has been coming in my work e-mail today. I overheard a certain co-worker (who actually works on a PC here, hah) say that most viruses don't affect Macs. You kinda get that snooty attitude from Mac users sometimes, it's annoying. Granted there are a lot more people that hate Bill Gates than Steve Jobs or even Macs in general, but just wait. One day some genius hacker is going to snap and bring down the entire mac population with a virus that affects only macs, muahahah! Because you know, it's not really that Macs are that virus-proof... they're just not as popular. But with things like the Mac Mini making Macs accessible to everyone, it's only a matter of time before hackers get bored with their stupid PCs and start picking the Mac apart. I probably shouldn't laugh, being an 8-hour a day Mac user myself (even occassionaly day dreaming about buying a G5 for home). (I'd never leave PC's of course. As my brother says, a door that swings both ways--- swings more often!)
Anyways, it's just that ignorance that gets me. The ignorance and the accompanying attitude-- "oh macs are invincible, macs are perfect, macs never have problems or crash, macs don't get viruses". They're great machines (obviously if I still lust after them), but really not what the mindless mac masses believe they are ;) Or else I just have a special touch to be able to make them crash and freeze and have problems :P

Yes my most recent phone was giving me a hell of a time, dropping almost every call I tried to make. Sprint ran some tests and the boneheads decided it wasn't defective. Lovely. Well lucky me I bought it at Costco and they have an unbeatable return policy... satisfaction guaranteed. So, I just had to scrape together the receipt and everything that came with the phone and take it in. They would have replaced it as well with an identical phone but at this point I didn't want to worry about it and had decided to upgrade (like I could resist the opportunity huh?), so they gave me CASH back, full refund. I'm owner now of perhaps one of the coolest phones ever made-- not perfect, but close.
