That is, champs at consuming calories. I was hungry on my way to work early this morning, so I stopped for some really unhealthy breakfast items at the gas station. The bottle of chocolate milk alone is 880 calories, the box of cookies a total of 800. Don't worry-- I won't consume the whole mass in one sitting, I'll probably be working on it throughout the day. I simply find this amusing because I know better, hehe... and because I should be watching what I eat. Oh I'm watching... every last bite, hehe. But at the same time I recently realized why girls so often say that "the diet starts tomorrow" or "the diet starts Monday"... they ease their mind of the guilt of eating things they shouldn't so that they can just totally enjoy the indulgence. It's actually FUN to say "I'll start Monday" and then eat all the garbage you want. But I think perhaps you have to have really followed a strict diet in the past to appreciate this indulgence.

Think about it-- it's the same concept as premeditated sin. The sinner says "I'll repent later" to minimize the guilt felt during the action of sinning. No wonder words like "sin" and "decadent" are used in association with chocolate confections and desserts, hehe...

In any case, this breakfast just reaffirms my need to work out regularly. At my present body weight, if I work out 60 minutes a day 5 days a week, I can consume up to about 3800 calories a day and still maintain my present weight. I love being a tall male.

Travis the other day shared a little work-rant about bathrooms. So on the note of the office-related, I thought I'd share this story.

In the copy room there's a water tank. The stuff from the drinking fountain here tastes questionable in my opinion, and pretty much everyone here drinks the bottled Mt. Olympus water.

For centuries a clear mountain spring on Mount Olympus has flowed pure and sweet, low in dissolved solids and high in oxygen. Today it is honored as the paragon of Utah spring waters and is found in offices, homes and retail outlets throughout the Mountain West.

The Mount Olympus spring is located southeast of Salt Lake City at the 5,000 foot level of Neff’s Canyon, a protected source surrounded by a federally designated wilderness area. Its quality is very uniform, and there is no chlorine, harsh chemicals or impurities to alter the pristine taste of Mount Olympus Spring Water. In fact, more than fifty years of water analyses indicate no discernible change in the quality or mineral composition of the water.

Sounds tasty eh? So yeah, everyone drinks that, hehe. Now as you can see, there are always a couple extra tanks of water at the base of the dispenser so that if it runs out it can be refilled.

This week I have replaced the tank EVERY SINGLE DAY. How does that happen? I guess I've been unintentionally going to refill my water bottle at the same time every day this week. Monday and Tuesday it was amusing, because people came to get water while I was using the last of the tank, and since I couldn't really drain the sucker and leave it empty-- it became kind of a joke. But Wednesday I got there and the thing was BONE DRY. Jerks! Hehehe... I thought about complaining about inconsiderate people who use up all the water and don't refill it, but then I remembered that I too have once or twice used up the rest of the water and then cackled to myself as I left it empty, mwahahaha. I really don't mind refilling it at all-- it takes a few seconds and it's easier for me than it is for most of the women who are slurping down that water. I just find it funny that after joking about it for a couple days I've continually come upon an empty tank each day I visit the copy room.

I should try to refill it Friday just so I can be 5 for 5 this week...

Downtown at the Gateway Saturday, after hitting Rio Grande for dinner (great chicken enchilada, yum) and before seeing Nacho Libre, we found there was a sidewalk chalk art exhibit and checked it out. Someone even had drawn a scene from Mary Poppins... So appropriate. I don't care if some of these are just reproductions done larger in chalk— they were really pretty impressive. It made me think that I need to spend more time with creative pursuits of my own. I seem to spend my life working, studying, playing, etc... But I don't take the time nearly often enough to sit down and do something creative that I can appreciate later on. Take this blog, for example— it's current look came over 2 years ago and I never fully fleshed it out, and even what is finished is half-baked. So if I really enjoy it, why don't I have more motivation to do it on a regular basis? Maybe I just need to make up some goals and a schedule... Give myself some deadlines.

This image alone should explain my enthusasm for the camping trip we took this last weekend (the 16th). Samgyup sal (side of pork), beef, even prawns (Jesse's doing-- nice call), along with the usual sides. The kimchi was excellent (I've found the kimchi sides that L&L's sells is pretty consistently delicious), and we even had some spicy Korean sauce to marinate some of the meat / prawns in... my mouth is now watering. A little more at Crazy Pills...

Random story. The other day I went to the copy room a noticed a scent I haven't smelled for a long time. I don't know if it was cologne or what but when I walked by the finance department it smelled the same, and it totally took me back to being a little kid in the mid-80s. It smelled just like the Moss Man He-Man figure that I had!

Does anyone else remember Moss Man? I thought he squirted water but so far I can't find any evidence of such on Google, though someone did say Moss Man smells like Patchouli, hehe. Man, blast from the past... He-Man was awesome back in the day. Isn't it amazing how a distinct smell can take you back to a specific time and place?

Yes, I said that once by accident. What I had meant to say was that it was interesting showering in the dark, in commenting on a recent power outage... but of course Jeff and Steve never let me live that one down, hehe.

I showered by candlelight this morning, good times showering in the dark. The power was still out from last night.

The power went out at home at about 10:30 last night. After sitting around in the dark for a couple hours, the boys and I went upstairs to see what was going on up there, of course Soogie had a bunch of candles lit (apparently they had some lit before the power went out, hmmm... Makes me wonder if it really was the storm that caused the power to go out). At one point we went out front to see how far the outage went, and it didn't seem to go far beyond our neighborhood. The dogs were barking at us for being out front so Soogs just lets them out. Indy was hyper enough that we thought he just might make a run for it, and as long as he was out running around, Bobo wouldn't come in. After awhile Dan went and got his laser pointer to lure the dogs back in, and we got Bobo first and shut him in the house, but somehow Soogie didn't see that, she had some treats she was trying to lure the dogs in with. We got Indy back in the house and me and Steve went back inside, while Dan stood out on the porch and Soogie stood there on the sidewalk trying to call Bobo to come back, hehehe. Dan just stood there and let her call him for a while knowing he was in the house just to give her a hard time for just letting them out in the first place, haha. So mean but we know if anyone has to chase the dogs down, it's the boys, so we get annoyed when the girls let the dogs loose. It cracked me up tho that Dan just let her call Bobo for a while thinking he was history, haha. Cute Soogs... We're so mean.

Shot of the sky yesterday as I drove home from work. Yes, just something to replace that big eye that's been greeting you as you visit my blog =)

So yesterday Mar commented on how bloodshot my eyes were. So I told her the silly story of why they were so bloodshot, which didn't involve drugs or alcohol, hehe. Tuesday night, Dan and I were having a mega conversation when Bobo came down to visit (he must miss Kate, cause unless there's food being eaten he never graces us with his presence). So I gave him a good scratch behind the ears and under the collar (the kind you know he loves by the way he leans into the direction you're scratching).

Well, I had some sort of headache that night that seemed to just affect my right temple and seemed to be connected to my eyes a bit. So eventually I started rubbing my eyes... Not the little bit that I normally would when I have an allergic reaction to contact with the dogs, but rubbing it a lot, sorta massaging my eyes because it sorta helped the headache. Well by the time Dan and I got done talking my eyes were so swollen I could barely open them, hehehe. Funny thing is, they didn't look nearly as bloodshot on Wednesday when Mar commented on them as they did Tuesday night.

In any case, upon looking at my eyes in the mirror Tuesday night, the contrast against the red made my eye color kinda jump out at me, so I took a few pics. MMmmmmm... Bloodshot. What sucked is that my eyes were still swollen after 8 hours of sleep, hehe.
