I remember after watching the first few episodes of season 2 of Lost, there was some speculation about what that would do to your body if you had to press a button ever 108 minutes and so couldn't sleep longer than a few hours at a time. Seems like some people found that you could train your body to run off a lot less sleep if you just did it in certain intervals during the 24 hour period (I no longer remember the specifics).
Suffice it to say I've had a few rough nights of sleep in recent history. Monday night I (purposely) stayed up all night-- working on a project. In true procrastinator fashion I polished it off the last minute (ie giving me time to shower, get ready, and go to class). So yesterday I was running off of zero sleep, and really had no time to nap. Went to school, then work, then home for a couple minutes, then the Anberlin/Bayside/Meg & Dia/Jonezetta concert (which ended at 11pm), then Beto's for a really late dinner... Got to bed around 12:30, about 40 hours since I had last woken up from sleep.
Probably the best sleep I can remember having in a long time. It gets me thinking about sleep. See, as long as I concentrated and was busy, I was fine. We were at the concert and Steve was like "are you gettin' tired" and it wasn't till he suggested "tired" to my brain that I even yawned. But no I wasn't that tired at the concert.
Imagine how productive life would be if a) you only slept every other day and b) the sleep you got was like gold and you felt like a million bucks when you woke up. The key is to stay busy. Even just sitting as a passenger in a car I started to lose consciousness, heh. I'm thinking about pulling some more all-nighters at work, hmm.....
Don't get me wrong... I've always been a fan of sleep and lounging around. But man... last night's sleep was soooo much better than most. I'm just considering other possibilities ;) (Sleep when you're dead, right Mel?)
It's not that I particularly am dying to share this music or video with anyone. It's just not out on CD for a few more months and I enjoy listening to it. So to save me the effort of digging it up at Youtube, I thought I'd just slap it on here. Besides... it's been over a month since I posted. Not like this really counts as a post ;)
I do wish there was such a thing as a "repeat" button on Youtube... I'll have to settle for pressing play over and over.
Oh-- It's Straylight Run, and the song is called Buttoned Down.
p.s. did you ever notice how perfect the width of this column is for displaying youtube videos? Heh.
