It's kinda crazy how I didn't even notice that red lint stuff (from the pouch that amp was kept in) when I was taking the pictures, it looks like the amp is caked with it.

Decided this morning to play for a minute with the fastest lens I've ever used: 50mm f/1.4. I love how shallow the depth of field is, hehe. Click to see the detail (if your screen isn't big enough to display it when it opens, right click on the zoomed image and select "view image"-- most browsers will scale the image down to be able to view it.)
july18_08a-1.jpgTaken at the pool a week ago. Macro photography still amazes me. As does that little Canon Powershot SD10.

I did a little photoshoot this evening with my latest acquisition...

july16_08a.jpgOk so it is the moon. Only my second attempt at shooting the moon ever-- didn't have much of a telephoto to use (100mm macro lens) and it's kinda hard to focus on such a small object, but kinda cool :) I'll have to rent a telephoto and an extender some time to play with.

Have you ever not been able to figure out what it is you were in the mood for? (In this case, what music you're in the mood to listen to? Warning-- music after the jump, in case you have headphones or speakers turned up.)

So I get up this morning and go about the routine to get ready for the day. I look up from the john and see this on the wall in front of me:

july14_spider.jpgSince I'm pretty sure you all love spiders as much as I do, I thought I'd share. What really freaks me out about these guys-- I've seen a lot of them around the house lately-- is how FAST they move. They dart, they're dang quick. Though this guy didn't budge. I think he *wanted* to go for a swim down the toilet.

MTC_2b.jpgIt was ten years ago today (July 8, 1998) that I entered the MTC and started my mission, it's hard to believe it's been so long already. I still remember those days like it was yesterday-- the intensity of the Spirit in my life, the love I felt for God, and the desire I had to serve. It's a bar which I always measure myself against, a foundation that I can always fall back on when times are rough.

I wouldn't be who I am without an amazing family-- from my parents and siblings to my extended family-- aunts, uncles, cousins-- to a family on the other side of the veil who's always there supporting me... I'm so grateful for them.

I don't know who took the above picture, but it's a nice candid shot. Farewells at the MTC and sweet homecomings at the airport have been some of the few places that all the Sloans shared real, heartfelt hugs and tears. I still remember I was holding together fine there in that room where missionaries leave their family behind until I saw my younger brother Dan all teary-eyed. It was all over then, hehe.

MTC_3.jpgMe and Elder Shallenberger. I love this picture-- blue sky, green grass, the flag, the temple, and two young men who love the Lord and are eager to serve Him. Shallenberger was (and is) a real patriot, and a great example to me. (Man. I was a pretty skinny punk 10 years ago. What happened? Hehe...)
