For those of us who are unnatached on the upcoming commercial holiday:

From our friends at despair.com

Well, I'm posting this nearly a week late but I hope everyone had a Merry Christmas :) Nothing spectacular under the tree for Sloanie this year-- just some shirts and stuff. That's the problem with buying your own toys-- you outgrow your parents spending limits and it makes Christmas morning less exciting than it used to be. Oh well-- that's what it is to get old, I guess. I didn't really mind not getting any toys for Christmas, I like Christmas more for the fond memories and the warm cheer and fun time spent with the family-- getting presents for other people and enjoying magic of Christmas.

Marianne did get a cool toy for Christmas from Jesse (it's not unlikely that he was more excited about it than her, but she's pretty pumped about it now, hehe). He gave her a new Pocket PC-- they used to seem like the geekiest things, and ultimately they probably do still have a pretty good geekability factor, but they're small and sleek enough now to seem more cool and less nerdy. Needless to say I've been fighting the PDA idea for years and Mar's Pocket PC may have finally convinced me of how handy and cool they can be. We see how long I hold out before buying one...

Anyways, again-- hope everyone had a good one!

It used to be a Christmas Eve tradition in our family to go to Litza's Pizza downtown Salt Lake City to have pizza for dinner and then we'd visit Temple Square to see the lights, maybe drive around afterwards looking at Christmas lights, etc. In recent years we've gone on the 23rd rather than Christmas Eve, just because Litza's and Temple Square close earlier on Christmas Eve, and it's more difficult to pull of. So we went again on the 23rd this year-- man I love that pizza. The shots of Temple Square came out blurry but it had kind of a cool effect with the Christmas lights.

Yeah, both today and Friday people have been brining around little goodies for Christmas that they've made for their co-workers. Happens every year but being in a new department and working with/around a lot more people, there is a lot more of it this year. And hence a lot more guilt that I didn't do squat for anyone, not even a card, hehe. In my own defense I was pretty busy the last few days-- but who am I kidding, I really didn't have intentions of preparing a gift or goody for people at work. So maybe I'm a humbug, hehe. At least I have something to munch on today-- I'm starving!

It is funny to work around all these women. I just overheard 2 that sit right by me talking about eating a lot of one thing at once. Something about eating an entire pizza. One said to the other

"There's just something comforting about eating an entire pizza by yourself."

Hehehe... I will remember that the next time I grab a $5 large pizza from Little Ceasar's and consume it by myself.

Well, it's been an interesting week. Monday I started my new job full time and yeah, it's pretty hectic right now. It's crunch time with a big deadline coming up in a couple weeks, and I'm still learning the ropes and getting the hang of everything. Monday - Wednesday passed quickly with no time to goof around. Fortunately the guy who's job I'm taking just promoted and is still in the department and has enough flexibility with his new job that he can help me out until this deadline is met. He really is a pretty cool guy, it'll be fun working with him.

It seems like Monday I had a sore throat and then by Tuesday it was obvious that I had a cold with the congestion and the sneezing and the aching, etc. So yeah, it's been a fun holiday being sick, but oh well-- it seems typical for me to survive through work just to be sick for the holidays when I don't have to work. Such is life.

On another note, I started a MoBlog the other day and got Shawn and Kato going with their own MoBlogs as well. Basically it's a photoblog where they send photos to it from their cell phones or from their e-mail accounts along with the text for the post. Pretty simple and cool for them to have blogs. Why do I have one? Who knows. Just for the heck of it I guess, since I have one of those trendy camera phones.

Well, I think a lot of people caught the Christmas bug early this year as it started snowing on October 30. Granted, the snow has since melted and it looks more like November outside again than December, but it doesn't change the effect the early snow had on people.

My family gets pretty fanatic about Christmas. By November 2nd, my 2 youngest siblings had put up Christmas lights in their rooms, had Christmas music blasting, and were watching old home videos of Christmas. The rest of us settled for a bit of Christmas music and a viewing of National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation (that one never gets old). You'd have thought we were but a week or 2 away from Christmas, hehe.

Anyways, since the weather was good, we put up the Christmas lights today. It'd look better if there were snow, so let's hope it snows again before Christmas (and that it sticks). As a rule, however, we won't put up the Christmas Tree until after Thanksgiving...
